Dr. Jenny Yu leads the Bay Area Podiatry Group team in San Leandro, California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then attended UCLA where she earned her master’s degree in public health (MPH) in epidemiology. Dr. Yu studied epidemics, although not the current one, and began her career in healthcare as a biostatistician. She soon realized her passion lies in direct patient care, where she can personally help those who most need it. Dr. Yu earned her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland. She completed her residency at Saint Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, where she managed acute traumatic injuries and complex lower extremity conditions. After finishing her medical training in 2014, Dr. Yu founded Bay Area Podiatry Group and became certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. She also is certified by the American Board of Wound Management and is a qualified medical evaluator (QME). She has served as director-at-large of the California Podiatric Medical Association and was past president of the Alameda/Contra Costa County Podiatric Medical Association, networking and brainstorming innovative and efficient ways to solve problems with like-minded podiatrists in the East Bay community. In her spare time, Dr. Yu enjoys outings with her family, including two daughters who have recently left the nest. She enjoys all types of music, playing the piano, and presently is having fun learning the bass guitar.

As a Bay Area local, I grew up right here in San Leandro playing sports in a tight-knit community in a diverse environment. I went to The University of Alabama on a water ski scholarship to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, with a minor in Liberal Arts in 2007. Shortly after graduating, I returned to Northern California to pursue a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the California School of Podiatric Medicine in Oakland, and began my healthcare career in a family practice.

After graduating in 2016, I made my way back to Central Alabama to complete my surgical residency training at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care Systems in Montgomery. I finished my program in 2019, graduating with the title of Chief Resident.

Now that I’m back in the Bay Area and serving the community that helped shape who I am today, I continue to enjoy watching and playing sports, yoga, and waterskiing in my spare time.
